Forty-six years later, a rare 1980 Ozzy Obsourne rehearsal tape was recently discovered in the attic of a person who was friends with the late heavy metal legend, as per theprp. During those rehearsals, Ozzy, his late guitarist Randy Rhoads, and bassist Bob Daisley holed up in Iketshall before the sessions for Ozzy‘s solo debut, “Blizzard Of Ozz.” David Jolly and Osbourne got along well. The recording features the aforementioned group having a bluesy jam session for about twelve minutes. The only surviving member of that era, Daisley, told Sky News that the tape was legitimate and that it was recorded before the group joined forces with drummer Lee Kerslake.

As soon as I heard it, I thought, yes, that’s us, that’s Ozzy‘s voice. I don’t know if we were auditioning a drummer and just loosening up a bit, or we’re just clowning about… but it wasn’t a song we were working on because we had definite songs by then, we had several songs.

In the video report below, which was filed by Sky News, you can hear a portion of the tape being played and learn more about its history.

Ozzy Osbourne was a media personality, singer, and songwriter from England. He is known as the “Prince of Darkness” and is regarded as a heavy metal music pioneer. He became well-known in the 1970s as the lead vocalist of Black Sabbath, which he co-founded in 1968. Prior to his dismissal in 1979 because of his issues with alcohol and other drugs, he contributed to the band’s first eight studio albums, including “Black Sabbath”, “Paranoid” (both 1970), and “Master of Reality” (1971). Osbourne started a solo career in the 1980s after Ronnie James Dio took his place. He created his band with Randy Rhoads and Bob Daisley, and the two of them released the albums “Blizzard of Ozz” (1980) and “Diary of a Madman” (1981).
