Has it ever happened to you, that as soon as you pressed play on a song you never listened to before, you were transported back in time to some life experience that is so vivid in your mind? Well, that has happened to me just as I was lucky enough to have a preview of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus‘s upcoming album, “X’s For Eyes”.
While it transported me back to memories of high school that I most certainly didn’t enjoy, I have to admit that the music is good. So, very good. And just like me, the band has also grown and improved. I loved how the opening track “Always The King” with the amazing Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens reminded me very much of “Hotel California” by The Eagles. Wicked!
However, the track that resonated me the most was “Perfection“: “This is my confession / I don’t do perfection”, that could be the anthem of my life. But hey, better done than perfect, right? I swear, this album has me back to 2009, when I enjoyed listening to every alternative band on the planet. Well, technically I still do! Oh how some things do not change…
To describe this album a bit better, I would say that the production, mixing and mastering are very well done, as one would expect. But I can’t take that for granted, so it’s obvious that we must appreciate it. This band has been improving album after album, and this is no exception. The attention and dedication they put in the lyrics as well as music is tangible.
So I will be very strongly advising you to tune in on October 3rd and stream “X’s For Eyes”. Because we’ve been waiting a few years for new material for The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and everyday was worth the wait, after you listen to what they have created.
