The grand marshal for this weekend’s Pennzoil 400 NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada, is Korn singer Jonathan Davis, as per theprp. This Sunday, March 15, is the day of that yearly race. In addition to participating in different promotional events, the grand marshal typically gives the opening order to prepare the racers. Below is a recently posted video of the Nu Metal icon taking part in a pre-event lap at the circuit. However, there is some promotional synergy at work because Davis’s vehicle in the promotional video has the “Sick New World” festival’s emblem on it. Next month, on April 25, Korn and System of A Down will co-headline “Sick New World” at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds in Las Vegas, Nevada.

United Auto Workers and DaimlerChrysler sponsored the race for a number of years. The event has always been 400 miles (640 km) long, with the exception of 2009, when it was 427 miles. The sponsors of the 2009 race, Carroll Shelby International, added an additional 27 kilometers. The race is distinct in that the winner is awarded a championship belt instead of a trophy. From 1999 to 2002, the race was also a part of the No Bull 5 challenge. Chrysler sponsored this race from 2001 to 2008. In order to reflect the corporation created by Chrysler’s 1998 merger with Daimler-Benz, the race was called as the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 for the first six of those years.

The race was renamed the UAW-Dodge 400 for the 2008 race when Daimler sold Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management. In commemoration of the Shelby 427 Cobra, Carroll Shelby International sponsored the 2009 event with an additional 27 miles (43 km); the 2010 race was called the Shelby American. Lowe’s acquired the sponsor for 2011 through its subsidiary Kobalt Tools; prior to the circuit giving up its early-season date in 2010, Kobalt sponsored the spring race at Atlanta. From 2011 to 2013, the race was known as the Kobalt Tools 400; from 2014 to 2017, it was known as the Kobalt 400. The event was renamed the Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Race for the 2018 season.
