A night for those who crave chaos: Fit For A King in Fryshuset

The warm spring sun this evening in Stockholm was showing itself from its best side. Most ordinary Swedes stayed outside with a beer in their hand, celebrating the end of winter. But we are not ordinary people; we are the metalheads that would rather embark on a journey into the boiling metal cauldron of Fryshuset.

The Lonely God tour brings three American and one British band together, delivering four quite different flavors of metal. First to take the stage is 156/Silence from Pittsburgh. Of course a band like them are from the Steel City. The sound is raw, straight-forward metal, like the anvils of a steel mill. They are a perfect first act, setting the tone for the rest of the night. As a result, they turn up the heat and make the crowd boil.

The second band of the night was Acres, who bring a more British vibe to their melodic hardcore. The band have had many influences over the years and traveled through different sounds. Tonight it’s all wrapped up in a tight metal package.

Next up was Memphis May Fire that had a great night, and it showed. There was a total burst of hard core energy delivered with a smile – a jolt through an already electric audience. Mid-show the band payed tribute to Swedish metal royalty Blindside, whom the av collaborated. This made the home crowd go wild.

We end the night by entering the church of melodic metal. The headline act, Fit For A King, brings us to a sacred ride with their angelic metal. Fit For A King kept weaving their heavy, dramatic sound scapes to an audience that loved every cord and knew every word. In the end, it was a night to remember and the best reason to miss out on an early tan.
