American post-hardcore band A Lot Like Birds has released a new song titled “When in Love,” marking their first official track in eight years. The single features guest vocals from Geoff Rickly of Thursday and arrives amid the band’s reactivation after their 2018 breakup.

Formed in Sacramento in 2009, the band built a reputation for blending intense vocals and dynamic instrumentation. After the disbandment in 2018 they reconvened in 2024 and began playing live shows again. The new single signals a deeper return to creative activity for the group.

On social media, the band expressed how meaningful this release is, calling it a monumentally healing experience and a path toward reconciliation together.

They also thanked Rickly, noting his work was influential to them and that his contribution elevated the track. The song’s release confirms Andy Cizek (Monuments, Makari, Termina) as part of the band’s renewed lineup.
