Musamaailma, one of Finland’s best specialty stores for musical instruments and band gear, has recently added a new item to their web catalogue.
A truly special piece of metal history has arrived.
Few guitarists have influenced modern metal as profoundly as Alexi Laiho. This rare ESP Custom Shop Alexi Scythe was built for Alexi in 2006 at the ESP Custom Shop in Kiso, Japan, and originally imported to Finland by Musamaailma before being personally handed over to him.
The guitar remained in Alexi’s personal use until 2011. After Children of Bodom’s show at Helsinki Ice Hall on March 22 during The Ugly World Tour, the instrument’s ownership transferred to its current owner by the good will of Alexi himself — and he also signed the guitar to commemorate the occasion.
Now, due to a change in the owner’s life situation, this remarkable instrument is being offered for sale, presenting collectors and fans with an exceptionally rare opportunity to own a genuine Alexi Laiho pre-owned and tour-used ESP Custom Shop guitar.
A true collector’s piece and a unique part of modern metal history. Find out more on our website.
The Finnish melodic death metal group Children of Bodom is based in Espoo, Uusimaa. Originally formed in 1993 under the name Inearthed, the band’s last lineup was frontman Alexi Laiho, drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henkka Seppälä, pianist Janne Wirman, and guitarist Daniel Freyberg until they broke up in 2019. Ten studio albums, three live albums, two EPs, two compilation albums, and one DVD were all published by the band. The band’s first album to be certified gold in Finland was their third studio album, “Follow the Reaper” (2000). Subsequent studio albums were granted the same distinction. Each of their subsequent four albums debuted at the top of the Finnish album charts, and they have also had chart places on the Billboard 200 in the United States.
